Privacy Policy for Servo Watch

Servo Watch helps you view nearby fuel stations, compare fuel prices, save favourite stations and brands, and configure vehicle and fuel preferences. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it is used.

Information We Collect

Servo Watch does not require an account and does not ask you to provide your name, email address, phone number, or other direct contact details.

The app may handle the following information:

• Location information, if you grant location permission. Servo Watch uses when-in-use location access to centre the map, show nearby stations, calculate distances, choose the nearest station when prices are tied, and support location-aware widget content.
• App preferences stored on your device, including selected fuel types, fuel colours, appearance mode, default navigation app, favourite stations or brands, and vehicle details such as vehicle name, fuel type, tank size, icon, and colour.
• Search and map query information needed to fetch fuel station and price data, such as map bounds, station IDs, fuel type IDs, brand filters, search text, and chart date ranges.
• Basic server logs for API reliability and security, such as request path, request method, status code, request duration, and error details when a request fails.

How We Use Information

Servo Watch uses this information to:

• Display fuel stations and prices relevant to the map area or search query.
• Show your distance from stations and provide directions through your selected navigation app.
• Save your favourites, vehicles, and display preferences.
• Provide widget fuel history and nearby-area information.
• Operate, secure, debug, and improve the Servo Watch fuel price API.

Location Data

Location access is optional. If you do not grant location permission, you can still browse the map, search for stations, and view fuel prices, but location-based features may be unavailable or less accurate.

Servo Watch uses location while the app is in use. The app stores a learned location centre in the app group shared with its widget so the widget can show relevant area pricing. This learned location is stored on your device and is not used to identify you.

Servo Watch does not send your precise current location to the Servo Watch API. The API receives map bounds and query parameters needed to return fuel station and price data.

Local Storage

Favourites, vehicles, fuel preferences, appearance settings, navigation preferences, widget configuration, and the widget's learned location data are stored locally on your device using iOS storage. Some widget-related settings are shared between the app and its widget through the app group.

You can delete this locally stored information by deleting the app from your device. You can also manage location permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Backend and Public Fuel Data

Servo Watch's backend stores and serves fuel station, brand, fuel type, region, and price information from Australian fuel price data sources. The backend does not maintain user accounts, user profiles, authentication state, or favourite state.

When the app requests fuel data, the server may process the query parameters required to answer that request. Server logs are used for operational purposes such as diagnosing failures, monitoring reliability, and protecting the service.

Sharing of Information

Servo Watch does not sell personal information.

Servo Watch does not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Information may be processed by infrastructure providers used to host the Servo Watch API and database. These providers process information only as needed to operate the service.

The app may open Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, or another navigation app if you choose to get directions. Your use of those apps is governed by their own privacy policies.

Analytics and Tracking

Servo Watch does not include third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking SDKs. The app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.

Data Retention

Local app data remains on your device until you change it, reset it, or delete the app.

Server logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for operations, troubleshooting, security, and service improvement. Fuel station and price data is retained as needed to provide current prices and price history.

Children

Servo Watch is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be reflected by changing the "Last updated" date above.
